Animation...hmm

Having changed my mind about what my animation was going to be, i decided to model and animate a game i used to play called crossbows and catapults. It basicly involves 2 players who set up their castles and make a fortress out of plastic bricks to protect their flags. They would then fire tokens with their weapons and see how much damage they could cause to the opponents castle.

I thought this would work well in an animation, and would give me a chance to use different animation techniques. The modelling is fairly simple which is good as then i can spend more time on actually animating. Reactor looks like a great way to simulate the collisions of the tokens on bricks and shal look into it.

Visualization almost complete

My visualization of my laser board game is almost comnplete moddelling wise. I now have to focus on the lighting and materials. As ive never done this before, ill have to learn as i work especially with using mental ray. I looked into using Vray for rendering, but think its not needed for this at this time.

Hopefully once the lighting and materials are layered on it might start to look ok.....

Big head set

Whilst researching on my project I found this picture quite amusing and wanted to share it with everyone

So far so good..

For my visualization project i am visualizing a board game which involves lasers and headsets. Here's what ive done so far..
Im looking into vray for the rendering but i'm also looking at other options.

Some dice

I animated some dice today which i will incorporate into Andy's project. I used Reactor for the first time and its pretty damn good. I bet with enough practice great results could be acheived with it..

Kick ass slow start and alot to learn...

For my visulization and animation projects, i want to create a 'zoo' themed board game environment. The aim of the game is for the animals to escape the zoo. In order to do this, the players will roll a dice and move their token (animal) around the board accordingly.

So, how am i going to incorporate this into both projects? And what do i need to do?

Ive done sketches of some of the animals that i am going to model. At first i thought about giving them a 'cardboard' appearance, but i thought the animations would suffer and wouldnt look as good. So im going to make them in as low poly 3d models, and give them a cartoony look. Heres a pic of the first elephant token i made (but will probably scrap) and my start on the full 3d elephant.

For the animation project, ill focus mainly on the animation of the animals depending on time. For the visulization project, ill focus mainly on modelling and texturing within the board game. My next main task is to design my actual board.

Ive got a feeling there will be a few late nights working on this............!

Toy train...

After having an awful start to my year, heres my first post. We had to make a toy train in 3ds max and import in into an environment. This was the first time of using max in ages so it took me a while. Ive been pretty unimaginative with my environment and havnt really added anything creative so ill go back to it in the near future and make it better.
